PROFILE

Name: DJ CQB
Location: UK
Genre: Liquid, Drum and Bass, Jungle
Show Time: Fridays 6pm – 8pm

DJ CQB first started listening to Jungle back in 1993 when a friend used to blast his tunes much to CQBs dismay. Then one day he heard a mix of “Just For U London” and caught the bug.
From then he started listening to various radio stations including Dream FM, Kool FM, Feeling FM and Eruption FM. Then he started going to all the big raves like Jungle Fever, Desire and Ravelation.
DJ CQB by now was interested in learning how to mix like the big names and soon bought a second hand Soundlab deck from a friend, and a cheap mixer. Not being able to mix properly with just one deck he simply plugged his stereo into his mixer and mixed with the radio or a tape in the background. In the meantime practising on his mates decks ( Big up Paul T for that)! Eventually getting his own decks and rolling fwd with the intro of Drum and Bass, he began to play house parties and radio stations like Life FM, Friction FM, Feeling FM and Live FM amongst others. Getting the odd set in small clubs such as Laceys, West End of London. Also, he was attending a Music Technology course at a local college which led him to the college DJ Competition. He went on to win it!
Then in 2001 he gave up mixing to join the British Army, but never stopped listening to the sounds.
In 2004 he bought himself a new setup and got back into the flow. It all came back as if it was yesterday and he now spends most of his spare time trying to get all the tunes he missed added to his collection!
Now a member of the UK Bass Radio team , he rinses out at every opportunity!! DJ CQB’s current plans include getting himself some more live club sets and spending some time getting into producing as well as getting more involved with helping UK Bass Radio progress.
Recent events include Boxed In at the Zeb Bar and JAH FREEDOM Party in Southampton and the upcoming Kalamata @ The Earth Club, Eastleigh. Big up Amy and all the NastyBeatz/Freedom Krew.
Happily married to Nicola. Currently living in Salisbury, England.
DJ Influences: Nicky Blackmarket, Wildchild, Hype, Ellis D and Zinc. MC Influences: Stevie Hyper D, Skibbadee, Riddla
