Setting up the Shoutcast plugin for uk bass radio (this is not required to listen - just for the DJs)
This might be useful for anyone that needs to use shoutcast. If you are applying for a show on uk bass, please install and make yourself familiar with this software before broadcasting.
Step 1:
First of all you will need winamp, you can get this at www.winamp.com
Step 2:
Once thats installed you will need to install a plug in for it, you can get this by clicking this link: http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/shoutcast-dsp-1-9-0-windows.exe
Right Click > Save As
Step 3:
Once installed open winamp. Go to Options > Preferences
Step 4:
A menu like this should show
Go onto DSP/Effect and on the right click the shoutcast plugin you just installed
Step 5:
Now another menu should appear, here you need to press the 'Output' tab. Enter the Address, Port and Password (provided) and select Encoder 2.
Step 6:
Once them details are inserted click on the 'Yellowpages' button. In the Genre field, put 'drum and bass jungle' - this will ensure that you are listed on the shoutcast.com directory ( = more listeners).
Step 7:
Select the Encoder tab, and then click on 'Encoder 2' and put the following properties:
Encoder type: MP3
Bitrate: 64kbps, 44.100kHz, mono
Step 8:
Now press the 'Input' tab, and select 'sound card' for the Input Device
