Can anyone recommend a mixer?

I'm really after 2 or 3 channels, cut offs must be slick and good quality reliable faders - not worried too much about loads of features!

I've used gemini (cack) & Numark (poo faders).
Currently got a Stanton SK2F Limtd Edtn - does the job but was 2nd hand & the optical xfader just went and is almost the price of an entry level mixer to replace.

Any ideas appreciated.

ive got an sk6f aswell, and imo id just buy a standard input fader to replace the optical, think theyre only about 10 15 quid, plus the curve works properlly on the input fader and not on the optical, i kno the opticals slick as fook but i dont have no problem crabbing and flaring with the standard fader just keep it fresh with some servisol Very Happy

I have a Stanton M304

It is good but not perfect by any means. The EQs are great, you can completely cut the bass, mids and treble, balance controls are very good, and the faders are nice and smooth.

Theres also an XLR mic input as well so you can use it with a decent mic if you play with an MC.

There are 3 issues I have with it however:

1) There is only a rotary volume control for the mic so you have to turn it on and off with the switch on the mic itself. Or you can turn it down and up but the chances are that you wouldn't get it exactly the same every time

2) The kill switches click sometimes, particularly when you don't press them fast enough

3) I've noticed recently that the crossfader randomly unscrews itself for some reason. This is very strange as I never actually use the crossfader! So I wouldn't recommend it to a scratch DJ or someone that relies on the crossfader to mix (which is probably most DJs).

If you can put up with those 3 things then it is a great mixer overall, good sound quality and value for money (although I got it on special offer but prob wouldn't pay full price for it).

Hope that helps in your decision.

i have the stanton m304 i got it from htfr.com at half price. it was a bargain

1. great mixer for the price and sound quality is its strongest point. unreal

2. yes the cross fader does unscrew its self im going to have to get some thread lock no big deal.

3. bass mid treble nobs are to small but got used to them now.

4. everything else is rock solid, get one

alternative if i could justify the cost would have been the djm400 my favourite at 6 times the cost.

Not just me then.

Have you noticed that the kill switches aren't that good? When you press one, it cuts the whole sound for a split second (often in just one speaker) - it is more noticeable if you press it down slowly.
