Does any DJ on the site use a laptop to transmit their set on the internet? or is there anyone that knows how to do it? The problem i have is linking an amp to my laptop without the excess loudness that the amp produces, as it goes into the mic socket of the laptop.
Any help wud be appreciated.
Thanks

run it throught a eq in between amp n laptop, then eq again with software. might help reduce "loudness" and any buzz.

Have you only got the Mic socket? If you have a Line in then use that.

You probably would have thought of that already if you did, but just an idea.

Another thing, you should have a sound mixer on your comp - with mine there is a speaker icon on the taskbar, alternatively you can go to Control Panel > Sounds / Audio devices > Volume - and click the Advanced button

It's the recording properties you're after Smile

PS, to get the Recording control, when the Volume control window is on the screen, click Options > Properties than select 'Recording'

This is all based on my own PC (XP Pro) btw

Ez Overload. Yeh mate i only have a mic input which is the problem really. the input sensitivity is too high when i use a phono to 3.5mm jack splitter cable into the mic input. i tried using the different properties in the recording panel to reduce it but there is too much distortion. i am looking at probably an external usb soundcard so that i can plug the decks into it. but need advice or an alternative.
Thnx

If your laptop is anything like my PC, then the input volume control may be very sensitive, here is how mine looks:

Anything above that distorts badly

I personally after 18 years of djing have taken the steps of becomming a digital DJ.

I have been using Ableton and Traktor for some time now and it is deffo the future, although you need a good set up to use it propperly. I have a 7.1 soundcard with switchable inputs/outputs so have no problems!

Technically though to get the full use of the software you should be combining the PC with an Allen and Heath X-One3d mixer and Final Scratch is a must!

To set up digitally you are looking at an outlay of £2,500 to get a satisfactory set up!

Hope this helps clear things up for you!

By the way the major plus is the fact you no longer need to BUY music, or have to carry heavy record boxes!

No, you don't need a setup that expensive just to stream with Shoutcast - maybe for producing tunes professionally

Are you sure its the amp causing loudness and not just the quality of the input on the laptop? usually laptop mics/ins really buzz coz the fan/harddisk/cpu are all so closely packed and whiriing away......the external soundcard would sort all that out for sure.

As for digital djing - personally I would say think long and hard about FS......if u want a vinyl-digital interface I recomend SSL everytime. The professional's choice Wink Keep the skill, open up the angles

Well the external sound card is usb so i think you just plug the cable from the amp straight into the input on the soundcard. I never really paid attention lol
