if your thinking of doing it seriously then get a set of 1210's,
go for a vestax mixer, any stacking system will do for the house, but if your thinking of doing house partys and shit with your set up then a bigger amp is needed, check you add trader for cheap set up's or ebay if you dont want to buy brand new.
also ive seen club amps in cah genarators going for under £50 worth a look.

and speaker's you could build em your self buy getting bins from maplins, or buy a set of eltax, jamo's or bose, just make sure there powerfull enough to handle the bass from jungle

Mate,

Just go for it. If you can afford it go for techics, also I hear the new stantons are good. If your going the CD route, get Pioneers. And an Allen&Heath mixer. If in 6 months you don't want it you can probably make most your money back off e-bay. But just go for it, and practice, practice, practice, but give it 6 months to a year before you decide whether to jack it in or carry on.

I would suggest that if you havent done it before then you are best off trying on a mates decks of possible. If not, the I'd get a pair of second hand decks and mixer to start with - I'm sure you can pick up a cheap pair if you look around. I always say to learn on a lower range of decks than 1210s, because if you can get good on semi-shit decks then you wil have the skills when you come to gettng some 1210s. The same goes for mixers - why get one with loads of features when you just want to start learning to mix?

The first decks that I got were Citronic PD1s which are pretty good value - One of our DJs has had a pair of them for 8 years and they are still going strong Smile
Here is a review: http://www.djsource.co.uk/reviews/turntables/citronic-pd1-turntable-review/

If you have the money to get the best equipent. then my all means, go for it - but remember a great set up is pretty useless if you can't afford to buy vinyl Laughing

One last thing - practice practice practice! When I strated DJing, I picked it up quickly, but when I tried to teach a mate to mix and it took absolutely months for him to get the hang of it.
