man, i feel for you guys...

i'm from california, where weed is legal w/a permit/prescription which sounds nice BUT

legaliziation w/out changing society's negative perspective about "drugs" (thanks to ronald regan's "JUST SAY NO" campaign...30 years ago and the bs still resonates!) means that ganja might as well be crack--even if it's legal!

there's constant raids @ legal cannabis clubs--meant for cancer patients and such, & anyone @ a cannabis store during a raid--be a patient, a worker, regular stoner w/a legal prescription, etc...GETS THROWN IN JAIL!

in my area of cali, for a full month, everyday on the LA news my town was featured in another "drug bust"...houses dedicated to the organic indoor growth of sensi. but all the dilapitated meth houses just a 20 minutes drive away are left untouched, unnoticed my the community & media. F*ck that!

anyway, just a perspective from a place where legalization didn't solve any problems...the real key (i think) is to help educate those who don't know the difference between ganja and other drugs, and raise awareness of other organic sources of medicines that are widely accepted...

a big one is DIGOXIN, a plant derrivative used for heart patients EVERYWHERE, super dangerous if not used as indicated, but definitely a life-saver when titrated correctly...

(sorry to digress, i'm really into holistic medicine)

perfect your homegrown hydroponic techniques and teach as many people as you can so no one needs to buy grit weed!

jax - Good rant!

Education geared toward legalization is the key. Were the stigma lifted and herb no longer viewed as a vicious street drug hellbent on the erosion of society as we know it, things would eventually be different.

Ignorant old white men, society's elite born into old money, muse on the evils of inebriates while drowning themselves in antique brandy - utterly unaware that they wreak more havoc on their bodies than the casual pot smoker - and - are a far greater danger on the roadways as well...

Pot is a gateway drug. This is their mantra, their creed. I am not any more self-delusional than I need to be, and I'll confess to percieving truth in this statement, but the fact is - this is not pots fault! Marijuana would not lead to more explicit pharmaceuticals if one wasn't forced to interact with the peddlers of the harder shit in order to get hooked up!

Lawmakers have dug their own hole in that they have forced pot down into the seedier circles, and given us no choice but to interact with dirtbags. Mind you - no offense to any Herbal Distribution Engineers out there... I'm not saying all dealers are interested in hooking me on crack or meth, but many are, and this is the problem that is core.

By lumping a mild inebriate like herb into the same category as the evil, destructive drugs, those in power have borne a self-fulfilling prophecy in which all drugs are the same. Otherwise upstanding and law-abiding citizens who like to have a burn after work are subsequently labelled as criminals and left no choice but to associate with criminals.

Alcohol is legal. Ethyl alcohol literally dissolves cell membranes and results in inebriation because neural pathways are simply no longer there to conduct signals. Five dedicated minutes in the bar is all it takes to become too inebriated to function. Those in power introduce laws to regulate, yet millions die every year as the result of drunk driving. Alcoholism runs rampant through all strata of society - Apparently these are acceptable losses as far as Capitol Hill is concerned. Must be money in it. Someones' back is getting scratched.

Why cannot these same arbitrary and ultimately ineffective guidelines be applied to marijuana? Establish a legal age of consumption and call it illegal to drive under the influence... You just can't tell me there's no money in pot. The profits from legalized distribution would be nothing less than a windfall... Huge profits while also allowing the government to maintain the inside track...

Oh, wait... I know what the problem is. They fear it will appear as if they are encouraging the use. Interesting... Those in power have no problem encouraging the use of alcohol during PrimeTime, on billboards, in magazines, on the sides of city busses, etc.

It's the stigma. Drugs are bad, M'kay?

The responsibility is ours, my friends. We are the ones in the know. We are the ones who are aware of the fact that tootin' a hogleg doesn't render us vicious, amoral psychopaths.

WE MUST NOW BECOME THE EDUCATORS.

eh?

That was my rant. Granted, lengthy and essentially without a point, but these things happen. Reckon I was replying to jax there - I would have quoted him, but between his rant and mine, it would have been pretty much an entire page...

Ah, yes... Professionally, I see.

For those confused, Mr Impaler has edited his last post from a jpeg indicating that I put him to sleep with my soapbox legalization speech to an adorable puppy.

Very classy. Rolling Eyes
