Alright guys i'm sure its been done but this is a thread for all producers to share they're technique of makin a solid beat. List programs, plugins, sample CDs anything.

At the mo i use a combination of Addictive Drums (which is a sample based instrument plugin, prob knew that) and also use David Carbone's Drum and Bass Masterclass sample CD.

Anyone else?

Yeah it would be good to get a topic running where people can share techniques and samples, I've started trying to make tunes so it could be useful.

I don't know enough yet to contribute anything much but heres a link to another forum where people post a lot of samples http://www.subvertcentral.com/forum/index.php?f=10

breakbeats!!!!!!

chop on propellerhead recycle, export a midi file to keep the groove if thats yer thing, or ya can just use a rex file if your sampler supports them, make sure you get your hits nice and accuratley chopped, zoom in before each hit and set your marker just as the attack of the hit start to climb, layer hits within your sampler, layer and intertwine breaks, fuck layer breaks and hits for the same beat whatever experiment, sampler wise kontakt sucks for breaks, but b3 is ok (pretty fuckin sweet infact) if you can wait 3 days for your samples to load every song, vember audio short circuits the best ive tried, also motu machfive is one hell of a sampler

once i get to the sequencer usually goes something like...

have a track with the break(s) your usings midi file set up to the right of your project, just handy to always be able to go back to the original break every now and again, snip a little roll out and use it stuff like that,

mighnt have a track set up with some kicks on one with hihats etc tec,, all that bullshit

then its simply a case of making yer fucking chooon innit blaaad Very Happy

The thing to get going is variation. Slice up a beat with FL slicer and misplace the pieces to get it more funky.

if your looking for a decent sampler, claes just made shortcircuit into freeware Shocked which is astonoshing as its the best sampler available by far, you mighntthink 'why would something thats free be better than ni kontakt or battery when they cost 300 quid+' its simply because some people are nice and like other people to have free stuff Smile

plus you paying about 200 quid with the N.I stuff for dodgy samples
