Im sure a heavy drinker would have more problems than someone who smokes week regularly.
There probably are side effects to smoking weed, but there is for everying

I smoke, but i think that you'd be better off not smokin it in the long run. It clearly has an affect, it just depends on whether it is desirable for you or not.

EZ Eye.
I live in south africa and the 'erb here is wikid. Its easily available and potent too. The strain mostly found or grown here is Sativa whereas in the uk, theres mainly indica. Indica is hectic compared to sativa as I've smoked both and found that Sativa gets you fuckin stoned with little if not any paranoia while indica makes me feel as if the whole world is watching me like a caged animal in the zoo. If you feel this way, try getting hold of some Durban Poison or even A grade Swazi. Both are Sativa's and may even be the best smoke you'll have in a long time. Weed from the transkei and even Botswana is a good buy too. You'll feel the difference right away.
Hope I was of some help, keep the green head high.
Love n Respect
Brendon

them statements that came out recently about cannabis use can lead to mental illness is just scare mongering in my opinion, from what i can gather the chances of it affecting your mental health are pretty low you have to firstly have been smoking from a very young age and have a gene that is directly affected by tetrahydracannibinoid and smoke a certain amount every day
but smoking anything is obviously bad for you

Hello! It's me Sexy Bex :
What an interesting topic Eye man! I'm going to answer very seriously - I'll never be this serious again I promise
I started smoking weed when I was about 15, I smoked a lot through college, dabling in a few other choice medicinals. It sort of levelled out in my late teens (when I met Baz) to about a half oz. of skunk a week between us.
There is a history of less severe mental illness in my family, but I would have considered myself a normal child.
I first began to experience serious mental health problems and frightening psychosis when I was 16 and tried to commit suicide in Berlin (of all places). It resulted in me being placed (restrained) in a horrible East Berlin psychiatric hospital . When I got back to England I was given various semi-successful treatments and medication but continued to smoke cannabis.
At the age of 19, I developed Depression and weird high/low moods and terrifying uncontrollable suicidal thoughts. I began another course of anti-depressants. I continued with regular use of cannabis until I was admitted to the department of psychiatry in Southampton (another attempt on my life) and diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder (Manic Depression).
It didn't even occur to me about any side effects there might be to smoking cannabis, however the hospital staff were all too familiar with my situation. I instantly looked around the ward and thought "i'm not like these people" but when you get talking to the more forthcoming of patients in the smoking room (bizzarrely the only place to make "friends" in a psychiatric ward) you find that a overwhelming majority of them have similar stories to mine - well I was shocked just how like me they were; regular cannabis use, history of depression in the family, normal kids.
I have never smoked cannabis again. But thats not to say my illness just went away. I've been admitted to hospital numerous times since and I will be on serious medication for a loooong time. I've put on a lot of weight because of the side effects - I'm not just talking about a bit I mean a LOT - this doesn't help with my already shattered confidence - but its coming off s-l-o-w-l-y (YESSSS!).
At present I'm out of hospital (for ever fingers crossed!) but I find life hard. I often put Baz through hell unintentionally with my uncontrollable moodswings and frequent attempts on my life. I love him so much and without him I wouldn't be here. I can't imagine what it must be like for him when i'm ill - to watch me suffer and consider my life so worthless that I am flippantly prepared to throw it away.
I try to live each day as it comes and I'm doing really well but it is HARD work! I have really good days - with fewer and fewer really bad days. I am lucky - I have amazing support and a brilliant community psychiatric nurse. I am also lucky because my illness is nowhere near as bad as some I have seen at the hospitals.
Its not my intention at all to scare anyone into giving up. However, like anybody would, I want a reason why. I believe cannabis combined with hereditory mental illness and a vulnerable personality has at least contributed to all this.
Thanks guys,
BEX xx
Sorry I've written a book lol - but I really would like people to listen to my story and think about cannabis and whether they too could be at risk of developing serious mental illness. www.rethink.org

My uncle died from smoking from Cananbis for 15 years recently , not that I really smoked it anyway, just got boring for myself, but is good fun if your with mates to chill out... but he smoked it often and ended up dying from Stomach Cramp , which ended up affecting his heart and died from the condition.
Autopsy Report ended up saying it was a bloodclot from smoking cannabis, and drinking

Big up Bex!
I know how hard it woz for u 2 write that & 2 let people in 2 ur most personal secrets... but you did it babe!
I love you so much & you know i'm always here for you
Thanks for writing those lovely things about the support you get from me but i do it out of love, no other reason, so no thanx needed!
I hope people will read & take in your comments & not just think of it as a joke - i know what you go through & it certainly aint no joke.
As to the question - do i still smoke weed? the answer is yes... but gone are the days of 1/2 Oz a week - i'm lucky if i have 1 or 2 spliffs a week.
As Bex said, this isn't 2 scare anyone out there in 2 giving up - it's her story just to let people know that it CAN mess up ur life.
Anywayz i gotta run, but i just wanted 2 big u up Bex 4 telling ur story - ur a true star & i love u with all my heart xxx

im a pretty much full time smoker i smoke probably an ounce a week wen i can afford it and i noticed recently that all i want to do is get stoned and i have started neglecting my responsibilities lol eg college job n shit i think if i didnt smoke weed i wudnt have half of the problems i do now as a result having to think about them is the worst part so i guess getting stoned has become a kind of way to escape from them i think that smoking weed is ok just as long as it doesnt affect other stuff u do in your life
