anybody can provide an IRC room, just download the client create a room called #ukbassradio and it's done then you need a few people in there so you can apply for a Q bot. but you do know you are prone to attack's from hackers when using IRC

We have hd IRC before in the past but it was not good - yes its good for people that have an IRC client but our average visitor doesn't want to have to install things like that just to chat.

I know that the chatroom isn't the best, but the idea is that it is simple and uses HMTL only so anyone can use it straight away.
I want a chatroom where people passing by for the first time can see people chatting and join in themselves without having to install extra software.

I know what you are thinking - Why don't you use a java applet for IRC? Well, we have tried that also and it weren't good lol - not many people could view it and on top of that, I haven't got java installed and don't intend on installing it because I don't like heavy applets on websites.

Thanks for your comments Rocksta and Assassin, but with all things considered, I think we should stick to what we have got until something better comes along.

Big up

im not sure on this one, but i dont think the client is free, last time i tried to use it, it wanted to charge me after a trial run. plus it's easy for people to attack you, because your IP is displayed to who ever.

yes you can set up a server yourself, but i already have access to a permanent irc network, usualy 5 servers!
As for the IP adress issue, you can hide, mask or even provide fake ip adresses to the server when u log on,and only if you transfer something to someone else then they get your real ip when it states the transfer in the status window..

As for the attacks etc, your site is as much at risk as any irc server is, esspecially if someone like me decides to attack the server using exploits easily available.

The only reason i offered was that several times the chatbox has crashed for me, and its easier to send someone files etc...

Anyway no worries, we all have our own opinions about things Smile
