ez all,

I'm looking to buy a cd recorder so I can record my mixes. I've already got an mp3 recorder on my laptop, but I really struggle with achieving good quality recordings.

Can anyone give me any advice on whats the best recorder to buy? I mainly use my mates Sony recorder, but its quite costly and I was after a slightly cheaper option.

Any advice would be much appreciated, cheers.

m8 get an external soundcard for ur laptop, something similar to http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Labs-70SB027002008-Blaster-Connect/dp/B000OGRDLE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1200664515&sr=1-5 and everything should be fine. Also what software do u use to record r mixes? - check the options on the software to make sure that its recording at least at 128 kbit. Hope this helps

I agree, i had a sb live 5.1 external card and they are pretty good if u just want to record ur mixes. They come with software able to record in .wav format and in 24 bit. I personally use wavelab to record my mixes and now have an AUDIO 8 DJ soundcard but the sb live card did me good for years. Argos sell em for £30 (different one to link above)

why not use something like 'soundforge' to record your mixes on the pc, then burn them to cd from the cd drive?

Cheers for your advice guys, I use the smrpro mp3 recorder, and yes I did have it set up wrong. Changing it to 128 kbit and thats helped greatly! But I think I'll get one of those sound cards from Argos as that sounds the simplest option.

Many thanks!!
