There is a petition online regarding the incessant squeeze on our lives. I think it may include this ubsurd decible meterage in venues, small black boxes mounted on walls with red LEd meter displays so if u've forgotten the rules and coughed by accident, or placed your glass down on the wooden table surface and not the 5mm thick beer mats for ur plastic beer bottle wih a teet, it shuts the power down to the whole venue.

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/licensing/#detail

petition for the Prime Minister to recognise that music and dance should not be restricted by burdensome licensing regulations.

taken from el' tone's PM web site:

The recently introduced changes in licensing law have produced an environment where music and dance, activities which should be valued and promoted in a civilised society, are instead damaged by inappropriate regulation. We call on the Prime Minister to recognise this situation and take steps to correct it.

Damn right
Correct it Mr TB Liar

I think these decibel meters only go in venues in 'residential settings' so don't include most genuine dance venues. However they really fuck up most social clubs and make it impossible to even have a family disco that is louder than a ghetto blaster. And they cost £3000 on top of the licence fee - so if a venue can't afford it the venue is no more...kill off the fun ...nice contract for one of Teflon Tony's mates tho....but how long till they extend it \ bring in summin for a wider array of venues? (revenue, revenue, revenue!)

Hey have u seen - they want to ban photography in public places too - there's a petition against that too - what a crock of shit. This government is obsessed with fucking restrictive legislation and controlling every bit of every citizens life - might as well be a dictatorship. Tony must lov4e it, that we all have to obey his bullshit. Totalitarian nightmare...and it's growing by the day. Subtle changes, but when u put it all together this society is fucked. ID cards, Bugs in cars, decibel meters that shut electricity off, no photography in public places, congestion charges and a soon to come in emissions charge on vehicles within the m25, crazy terrorism laws ethat deny the right to free speech and potentially can make anyone a target (thought crime), no demonstrating near parliament, 28 day detention without trial (sure to rise to 3 months after a few more pushes), and often now - guilty until proven innocent.....we don't live in a democracy. No one voted for these things. And the vote is a sham anyway, there is no difference on any major policy between the parties, we have an illusion of choice. Well we hava choice I suppose, a simple one - what colour logo we would like for our government.

40% of people vote in the election - Labour got in with 40% of that vote. So 0.4 x 0.4 of the population actually voted Labour = 0.16 = 16%

Labour got in because 16% of the population voted for them. And you can guess which 16%.

can't be long now...the power vacume is growing, possibly reaching a crux point in 6 years time (next election after the next one!!)

so who would be willing to vote for a party that represents the thoughts and ideas of the dance music culture?

minimal estimates reckon that about 2 million people go out clubbing at a weekend and take drugs (shocking). thats half of labours 16% already. If most of the dope fiends and drug adled freaks could make it to their nearest voting centre to vote for Mr X then that means a very high probability of actualkly taking this government and this coutry by the rains and sorting this nightmare scenario out. If people really want change then they'll just have to walk the 500m to nearest voting station and register with Mr X for priminister.... Wink Cool Very Happy Very Happy

If a lying 2 faced, war obsessed, greed induced, idiot incompetent dictator can get to power then surely a tree hugging, hoodie wearing plebian can too?????
