All UK Bass Radio DJs broadcast from their own studio / house. This means that we don't have the expense of setting up and running a studio and it means that DJs from all over the country can stream their show without the need to travel long distances.
Before broadcasting on UK Bass Radio you will need all of the following:
- At least 2 vinyl/CD decks and a mixer
- A PC or Mac with the ability to install software that we provide
- Audio cables connecting your amp/mixer to your PC/Mac sound card (Line Input)
- A fast Broadband/ADSL Internet connection (click here to test, you will need an upload speed of more than 160kbps)
- Enough vinyl for a weekly 1 or 2 hour set (longer sets may be available)
- A microphone to present your show (this is optional but recommended)
- You must be based in the UK
- Skills
Terms & Conditions
- You may not share any passwords given to you to connect to the stream or access restricted areas of the website to anyone else without permission from the management. Leaked passwords can cause problems, so any DJs caught sharing this information will have their show cancelled.
- Abusive language is not tolerated on air, in the chat room or in the forums. This includes DJs and MCs - offensive lyrics cause bad vibes.
- All DJs are expected to show up for their allocated time slots every week. If you are unable to do your show, then you should contact the management AND post a message in the Announcements forum. If you miss 3 shows in a row without doing this, you may lose your show.
- You may not stream during another DJs time slot without getting their permission beforehand. Anyone found streaming on someone elses time will have their show cancelled. You can however stream at times that are not taken by anyone else- please check the schedule before streaming outside of your timeslot.
- All tunes must be mixed rather than being played from start to finish to avoid people from 'ripping' your tunes.
- Before streaming, you must ensure that you know how to use the software correctly. This includes broadcasting at the correct levels and correct bit rates. If unsure, stream to the test server and ask someone to listen.
- You may only play drum & bass, jungle and old skool when broadcasting– You must get permission from the management if you want to play other genres of music.
- You are responsible for all content within your show including any comments that you make and tunes played.
- You are required to sign up to the forum with a valid email address. This is to ensure that you have access to the DJ area to access important information and keep up to date with the running of the station. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
- DJs are required to contribute £5 a month to the running of the station, preferably with PayPal. Cheques are also accepted. This is purely to cover the ever increasing costs of running the station.
- There should be no more than two MCs per show without permission from the management. Too many MCs = bad.
- You should keep up to date with the running of the station wherever possible. This includes visiting the forums from time to time, keeping your login details up to date (particularly your email address, so the management can contact you) and checking your emails regularly.
- If you are accepted onto the station and it is found that the demo that you have submitted is not your own, then your show will be cancelled immediately.
These terms may be changed at any time.
You must accept these terms before applying for a show.
